Run by the @stltransquiltproject. We are planning a community quilt and we need your help to make it!
This is a collaborative quilting project to capture the spirit, resilience, and joy of the local trans community.
You don't have to know how to sew to participate. Decorate a square of fabric to be sewn into a quilt with other squares from the community. Free fabric and art supplies are available to anyone who needs them. The only requirement is that your fabric square measures 8"x8" with a half inch border left blank for a seam allowance.
You can make a block for the quilt, attend sewing workshops + craft days, meet new people, and build community through shared craftwork!
Quilting offers an opportunity for many hands to come together and create something beautiful. As folk art, quilts are textile records of our histories. Even at their most basic utilitarian function, quilts are designed to provide comfort.
Our community is vibrant. The people here are extraordinary. Our lives and our stories are important. This project aims to embody the rich tapestry that is the St. Louis trans community.
